The case is being updated.

Prince Andrew will no longer be known as the Duke of York, as he is relinquishing his royal titles, according to a statement released Friday evening.

"In conversations with the King and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded that the continued allegations distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family," he wrote in a statement.

"I have decided, as I have always done, to put my duty to my family and my country first. I stand by my decision of five years ago to retire from public life," he wrote.

He says it is time to move on, and that he will therefore no longer use the title or honors he has been awarded.

He will remain a prince – but will stop being the Duke of York, a title he received from his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, writes the BBC.
