Netanyahu skips testimony at corruption trial after food poisoning

Sunday, July 20

Food poisoning will once again prevent Benjamin Netanyahu from testifying in his corruption trial. The Israeli prime minister fell ill on the night between Saturday and Sunday, the Times of Israel reports, most likely due to spoiled food.

So in the last few hours he was absent from the weekly government meeting and immediately afterwards the office of the 75-year-old prime minister released a statement to explain that he is ill and will have to work from home for the next three days.

After being examined at home by a doctor, his medical condition was declared good following further examinations. Netanyahu was given intravenous fluids due to dehydration.

His health conditions, in any case, have led to the cancellation of the testimony he was supposed to give in the trial of the trial in which he is accused of corruption. Two days of testimony that the judges had rescheduled after an first postponement, last June 29, for diplomatic reasons , accepting the request of Netanyahu himself, also supported by Donald Trump.

Netanyahu has already had several health problems in recent years: he has a pacemaker in his heart and in the last year he underwent surgery for a hernia and the removal of his prostate. The investigation was sparked by the arrest of two of the prime minister's collaborators: they are accused of having received money from Qatar, a mediator with Hamas.
