With the Africa Cup of Nations kicking off on December 21, 2025, just days away, taxi drivers in Agadir are mobilizing to welcome fans and delegations to the Grand Stade Adrar. At the heart of these preparations are the renewal of their vehicle fleet, the improvement of service quality, and adherence to local authority guidelines.

All drivers are mobilized to welcome the guests of the Africa Cup of Nations in exemplary conditions, says Youssef Waghat, regional secretary of the Association of Grand Taxi Drivers, affiliated with the National Labor Union in Morocco. This includes renewing the vehicles, ensuring their impeccable cleanliness, and maintaining a professional appearance for the drivers, he adds. The official specifies that the professionals received official correspondence from the relevant services of the Souss-Massa region. This letter invites us to take a series of practical measures to actively participate in the success of the Africa Cup of Nations, whose opening match will pit Morocco against Comoros on December 21, 2025, in Rabat, he explains.

However, Youssef Waghat calls on the relevant authorities to support these efforts."We request the provision of legal spaces reserved for grand taxis, clearly marked by road signs, in order to facilitate access for users," he emphasizes.

The momentum is also building among small taxis."More than 90% of the fleet has been renewed," affirms Hassan Abou El Mahassen, a professional driver."The vehicles now circulating in Agadir are in better condition," he confirms.

The professional finally emphasized the importance of this continental event. “We are fully aware of the responsibility we bear to ensure the success of this Africa Cup of Nations at all levels,” he stated. “It is also essential to improve the working conditions of drivers to ensure a quality service that reflects the image the city wishes to project,” he concluded.
