In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad welcomed, this Thursday, October 9, the announcement by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, of an agreement on the ceasefire in Gaza.
Asked by Le360, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director in charge of management of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, stressed that this agreement aims to alleviate the suffering of Gazans after a long and devastating war, by opening the borders to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid.
It is a sign of hope that allows the inhabitants of Gaza to breathe, to heal their wounds, to pay tribute to their martyrs and to nurture the hope of a gradual return to normal life in a deeply wounded territory, he added.
The official reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to a consistent line of conduct, championed by King Mohammed VI in his capacity as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee. A position based on specific priorities: demanding an immediate ceasefire, ensuring the opening of crossing points, putting an end to the forced displacement of civilians, facilitating the action of UN agencies on the ground and, ultimately, paving the way for a just and lasting political solution to the conflict.
At the same time, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui recalled that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, a humanitarian and social institution under the Al-Quds Committee, focuses its work on Jerusalem. But in the face of the humanitarian emergency, it has also deployed targeted initiatives to help Gazans stranded in the Holy City, ensuring their accommodation and the coverage of their basic needs, in accordance with royal instructions.
To strengthen its efforts, the Agency allocated a $2 million fund in the last quarter of 2025. This funding will enable the implementation of projects benefiting families in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, such as Kalandia, Al-Eizariya, and Abu Dis. These initiatives cover a variety of activities: sheep and cattle breeding, dairy and cheese production, baking, sewing, embroidery, beauty, as well as the establishment of kiosks to promote self-employment.
In addition, the Agency launched the Aouna campaign for Palestinian farmers, including the distribution of olive harvesting equipment. This initiative is carried out in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, the Al-Quds Governorate, and the Land Research Center (LRC).
Morocco's support does not stop there: the Moroccan Association for the Reconstruction of Palestine has concluded an agreement providing for a contribution of six million dirhams to finance part of these projects.
In conclusion, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui called on the international community and regional partners to further support the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency. We hope that other actors will come and strengthen our action and financially support the programs aimed at Jerusalem and Gaza, he stressed.
