The Algerian national team defeated their Bahraini counterparts 5-1 on Saturday, in the second round of matches in Group D of the Arab Cup football tournament in Qatar.
The Algerian national team raised its tally to four points, achieving its first victory in the tournament, after having started its journey with a goalless draw against Sudan in the first round.
On the other hand, the Bahrain national team bid farewell to the competition, occupying the last place with no points, in the group that will witness another match later on Saturday, bringing together Iraq (second place with three points) and Sudan (third place with one point).
Algeria took the lead through Redouane Berkane in the 24th minute, but Mehdi Abdul Jabbar equalized for Bahrain just three minutes later.
Adel Boulbina scored Algeria’s second goal in the 30th minute, while his teammate Yacine Benzia added the third goal from a penalty kick in the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time, and then Redouane Berkane scored the fourth goal in the 48th minute.
Adel Boulbina completed Algeria’s five-goal haul in the 80th minute, giving his team a big win after a disappointing draw in the first round of the “Arab Cup” matches.
