The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) reported in its most recent statement that Hurricane Melissa, currently a Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, continues to influence the atmospheric and maritime conditions of the Colombian Caribbean, despite being located south of Jamaica.
