I think that by making this choice of venue for the meeting, Morocco is sending a signal to the whole world, said Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a statement to Le360, on the sidelines of the first conference on victims of terrorism in Africa, which opened in Rabat on November 2.

The Burkinabe Foreign Minister deemed it necessary to refocus the discussions in order to collectively build effective and structured solidarity, capable of allowing those affected to regain their dignity. He emphasized that he was present in Rabat as a Burkinabe citizen, observer, witness, but also as a victim, in a context where terrorism and insecurity continue to severely impact several Sahel countries. Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré also commended the efforts made by Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, in favor of regional peace and stability.

We truly welcome this opportunity offered to all countries, but also to United Nations organizations, to work together and find lasting solutions to the insecurity plaguing the Sahel, concluded the minister.
