Since the first shield was made against the enemy's thrown spear, the development of warfare has been determined by the dynamics of attack and defense. The Russian-Ukrainian war opened a new chapter in this, in which there are fewer and fewer"classic" attacks carried out with tanks and fighter-bombers, but drones increasingly play the main role, in addition to missiles.
Now two-thirds of Russian losses are caused by drones
– points out the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a British research institute, and this is still a conservative estimate, other sources say 80 percent. But even the lower number means that drones are responsible for at least twice as much damage as all other military equipment combined. In the first year of the war, artillery caused two-thirds of the losses.
The location of injuries has also changed: three years ago, the legs and lower body were the most commonly hit by artillery shells, but today the head and upper body are exposed to drones attacking from the sky.
