President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Nicos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, agreed to build on the outcomes of the summit held between them in January 2025, contributing to expanding cooperation in the tourism, construction, agriculture, and other areas of common interest.

This came during a phone call received by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today, Saturday, from President Nicos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the call addressed developments in the Middle East, most notably the agreement reached in Sharm el-Sheikh to cease the war in the Gaza Strip. The Cypriot president expressed his country's full welcome of the agreement, affirming Cyprus' support for its implementation and praising the vital role played by Egypt and the personal efforts of the president in facilitating its conclusion.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, explained that President Sisi reviewed with the Cypriot president the most important aspects and details of the agreement, stressing its importance in stopping the war, releasing hostages and detainees, securing the entry of humanitarian aid, and initiating the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip.

His Excellency also stressed the need for full implementation of the agreement's provisions, noting that Egypt has made continuous efforts over the past two years, in coordination with the State of Qatar and the United States, to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.

In this context, the President invited the Cypriot President to participate in the celebration to be held in Egypt on the occasion of the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The official spokesman noted that Mr. President stressed the need to deploy international forces in the Gaza Strip and the importance of granting international legitimacy to the agreement reached through the Security Council. The two presidents also emphasized the need to begin the immediate reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip, with Mr. President indicating Egypt's intention to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction, a move welcomed by the Cypriot president.
