"Meteorological Department" Announcement No. 5 Tropical Storm "Kajiki" is likely to intensify, causing more rain in Thailand between 24–27 August.
On 23 August 2025,The Meteorological Department website issued an announcement regarding Tropical Storm"Kajiki" and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand, No. 5, stating that at 4:00 PM today (23 August), Tropical Storm"Kajiki" was centered approximately 780 kilometers east of Dong Hoi City, Vietnam, or at latitude 17.6 degrees north, longitude 114.0 degrees east. Maximum sustained winds near the center were approximately 85 kilometers per hour.
This storm is moving west at a speed of approximately 30 kilometers per hour. and tends to intensify, expected to move ashore in Vietnam and upper Laos during 25-26 August 2025, along with the southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand becoming stronger.
As a result of these influences, from August 24-27, 2025, Thailand will experience increased rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rain in many areas and strong winds in the upper Northeastern, Northern, Central, Eastern, and Western Southern regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity. Residents in these areas are advised to be wary of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in hillside areas near waterways and lowlands.
For the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are quite strong, with 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves are higher than 3 meters. Mariners are advised to proceed with caution and small boats should refrain from leaving the shore.
