The verdict is in. The El Jadida Court of Appeal has ruled in the case of the gang rape of a minor that occurred during the Moulay Abdallah Amghar festival. According to a statement from the Matkich Weldi organization, headed by Najat Anwar, which joined the case as a civil party, each of the six defendants received a 15-year prison sentence and was ordered to pay the victim 100,000 dirhams in damages. The association stated that it will support the victim during the appeal process in order to seek harsher sentences.
In August 2025, a 13-year-old boy from Youssoufia, orphaned at a young age and whose mother suffers from mental health issues, claimed to have been sexually assaulted by more than a dozen individuals on August 14, three days before the closing of the moussem (religious festival). According to his statements, he was led away by a group of men, forced to consume toxic substances and sleeping pills, before being raped in turn.
The young boy, accompanied by a friend he had met shortly before the moussem, had returned to Youssoufia by bus after the incident. His health deteriorated rapidly, requiring his urgent transfer from the local hospital to the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech, where he received medical and psychological care.
The Royal Gendarmerie, acting on instructions from the public prosecutor's office, opened an investigation. After the arrest of the first suspect, the other individuals, initially on the run, were identified and then placed in pretrial detention last August. The final verdict has just been handed down.
