A marriage that lasted
I mean, I wasn't a saint. Ozzy was no saint, Sharon continued."I gave him as much as he gave me. We were meant to be together." Meanwhile, when asked about the proudest moment of his life, Ozzy focused on it being a marriage that lasted.
"I believe you only have one true love in your life. I'm still in love with my wife," he confided."That's the main thing."
Just two weeks after the couple celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary, Ozzy's family confirmed to the media that on July 22, the legendary rock star died at the age of 76.
"It is with greater sadness than words can express that we must tell you that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning," his family said in a statement."He was with his family and surrounded by love."
She encouraged him to stand on his feet.
Ozzy and Sharon's love story dates back to their first meeting in 1970. At the time, Sharon's father, Don Arden, was the manager of Ozzy's band, Black Sabbath.
In 1979, Ozzy was removed from the band due to substance abuse problems, resulting in him spending three months drunk and high in a hotel room before Sharon encouraged him to get back on his feet.
In honor of their 40th anniversary in July 2022, Sharon shared a sweet message on Instagram: 2022 marks 40 years of marriage to my beloved Ozzy.
Sharon then became Ozzy's manager and encouraged him to pursue a solo career. Although he was married to his first wife at the time, Ozzy and Sharon's professional relationship turned into a full-blown romance. Ozzy divorced Riley in 1982.
Over 52 years
Ozzy and Sharon were married on July 4, 1982, in Hawaii. In honor of their 40th anniversary in July 2022, Sharon shared a sweet message on Instagram with her husband:"2022 is a special year for me. It marks 40 years of marriage to my beloved Ozzy," she wrote.
"We first met when I was 18, over 52 years we have been friends, lovers, spouses, grandparents and soul mates," Sharon continued."Always by each other's side. I love you Ozzy."
The Osbournes on MTV
While Ozzy was already a father to two children from his first marriage, he and Sharon became parents to three more children. Their eldest daughter, Aimee, was born on September 2, 1983, in London. They then welcomed Kelly on October 27, 1984, followed by Jack on November 8, 1985.
Two of their children, Kelly and Jack, appeared alongside Ozzy and Sharon on the MTV family show, The Osbournes. The show ran for four seasons from 2002 to 2005. Jack and Ozzy also co-starred in the series Ozzy & Jack's World Detour, from 2016 to 2018.
During an appearance on New York City's Q1043 radio program in August 2020, Aimee explained that she did not want to sacrifice her private life by appearing on the family show.
"I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and I always really valued my privacy within that family," she said."It definitely worked out great for the rest of my family, but for me and who I am, no... I just knew it was never something I could realistically consider."
Forty-four days sober
Ozzy and Sharon's relationship had its ups and downs. In 2002, Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer, and Ozzy would go on to describe his feelings about her health struggles at length in his autobiography, I'm Ozzy. He revealed the horror he lived through and how he couldn't sleep for nine months for fear she would die. She is the love of my life and my controller.
In 1989, Ozzy tried to kill Sharon while under the influence of alcohol, and this was something they carried for years.
In 2013, rumors began circulating that Ozzy - who had been struggling with addiction - had relapsed and that he and Sharon were preparing to divorce.
They were already carrying the weight of the 1989 incident, when Ozzy tried to kill Sharon while under the influence of alcohol. He reportedly told her:"We came to a decision that you should die before he lunged at her and tried to strangle her." However, Sharon managed to press the panic button and the police quickly arrived and arrested him for attempted murder.
It was probably the scariest moment of my life, Sharon later said of the incident.
The Black Sabbath singer tried to change the narrative in a Facebook post in April 2013, saying:"For the past year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was terrible to the people I love the most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober."
He also clarified that neither he nor Sharon were considering divorce: "I'm just trying to be a better person. I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my bandmates for my irrational behavior during this time... and, of course, to my fans. God bless you, Ozzy," he wrote.
The period of short separation and sexual addiction
In May 2016, the couple briefly split amid rumors of Ozzy's infidelity. But during an interview on Good Morning America that July, he stated that their relationship was back on track.
That same day, Sharon publicly forgave her husband during an episode of The Talk. I forgive. It's going to take a long time to trust, but we've been together for 36 years and married for 34 years, she said. I just can't imagine my life without him.
A few weeks later, Ozzy's former hairdresser, Michelle Pugh, confirmed to People that she and Ozzy had a four-year relationship that began in 2012, saying:"I can't deny that I fell in love with a married man who chased me."
At the time, a representative for Ozzy again told People that he was in intensive treatment for sex addiction and would like to apologize to the other women he had sexual relationships with.
Years later, Ozzy spoke openly about his relationships during a November 2020 interview with British GQ:"I've done some pretty outrageous things in my life. I regret cheating on my wife. I don't do it anymore," he said.
I did my due reality check and I'm lucky she didn't leave me. I'm not proud of it. I was pissed at myself. But I broke her heart.
When Sharon fell in love with Ozzy again
On Mother's Day 2017, Ozzy and Sharon said"I do" for the second time. A few days later, Ozzy told Hello! that the special day - which took place in Las Vegas - meant more than their first wedding.
"For me, this was actually our normal wedding day. This is what I'll remember," she said."Sharon and I have been through so much and this honestly feels like a new beginning."
He also acknowledged his past infidelities, saying: I made a huge mistake. Without Sharon, I am nothing. I love her. I can honestly say that I have never loved anyone else but my wife.
I experienced a new love, she continued, adding that she respected him because he was seriously trying to get away from his bad self.
A few days before their vow renewal, Sharon spoke about their reconciliation during an episode of The Talk: Thirty-five years with someone is a long time. I think at some point I fell out of love with my husband and then I fell back into him.
After being asked what made her fall in love with Ozzy again, Sharon said that he was trying so hard to become a better person including working with a psychologist every day.
"I simply experienced a new love," she continued, adding that she respected him because he was seriously trying to get away from his bad self.
It helped him overcome the health problems he was facing
Ozzy, however, had been dealing with a number of health issues for several years. In October 2018, he underwent hand surgery after an infection in his thumb, and a few months later, he was diagnosed with a serious upper respiratory infection.
While Ozzy was recovering, he fell at his Los Angeles home, aggravating injuries he had suffered in a 2003 motorcycle accident and forcing him to cancel all 2019 shows.
He then underwent four spinal surgeries, with the last one taking place in September 2023. However, his health struggles had not stopped as he continued to deal with the effects of Parkinson's disease, which he revealed in 2020.
As Sharon later revealed, Ozzy was first diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2003.
During an interview with People in September 2022, Ozzy admitted that his health struggles brought him closer to Sharon."She was the best," he said."My whole family was so good."
The borrowed time
"I never got to see a lot of my kids growing up because I was always on the road," Ozzy told Rolling Stone in 2023."But now that I'm home... back... it's great. I'm a grandfather now, and little Sid is just great."
"I'm counting my lucky stars," he added."I don't know why I'm still here, and sometimes I think my time is on loan. I said to Sharon the other day, 'What a f@cking great life we've had and what a f@cking experience.'"
Almost three weeks after his farewell concert, on July 5, 2025, with Black Sabbath and entitled Back to the Beginning, in Birmingham, which featured some of the biggest names in metal, Ozzy Osbourne passed away. He certainly knew very well what he was doing when he sang Mama, I’m Coming Home, making everyone at Villa Park cry - he was saying goodbye.
