The release of a 28-point draft of the US peace plan last week has deepened concerns in Ukraine and among European powers that Washington has accepted Russia's basic demands. These include territorial concessions from Ukraine, including areas that Moscow has not even been able to militarily occupy, and a commitment that countries facing full-scale Russian aggression from February 2022 will not join NATO. According to available information, the European proposals significantly change these points.

"The European plan is at first glance... absolutely unconstructive and does not work for us," Ushakov told reporters in Moscow.

Putin said on Friday that US proposals for peace in Ukraine could be the basis for resolving the conflict. Ushakov said that"not all, but many provisions of this (American) plan seem quite acceptable to us." He added that some, however, would require more detailed discussion.

Negotiations on the US plan to end the war in Ukraine ended in Geneva today. Washington and Kiev developed an updated and refined peace framework for a possible end to the war. According to German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, the Geneva plan is a fundamental success for Europe, which thus participates in all points that concern it.
