President of the United States of America Donald Trump has expressed interest in combat Ukrainian-made drones, but seeks to achieve an end to the war without providing Tomahawk cruise missiles. As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Trump said this at the beginning meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.

"This is a problem because we need the Tomahawks, we need a lot of other things that we've been sending to Ukraine for the last four years. Now we have a great situation. We send it to the European Union - they pay for all of this. They have a lot of money. But it's not about the money. We need the Tomahawks. We need a lot of other weapons that we're sending to Ukraine. And that's one of the reasons we want to end this war. It's not easy for us to give (weapons). It's a lot of very powerful weapons. So that's one of the things that we're going to talk about. Hopefully they won't need it. Hopefully we can end the war without thinking about the Tomahawks. I think we're pretty close to that," Trump stressed.

In turn, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine seeks to end the war.

"But this war now is a technological war. You don't just use Tomahawks. If you want to strike a military target, you need thousands of drones. They are combined with such missiles. Ukraine has thousands of drones of our production, but we don't have Tomahawks. That's why we need Tomahawks. But the United States has powerful production, it has Tomahawks and other missiles, very powerful missiles. But they can also get our thousands of drones. That's why we can work together. We can strengthen American production," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President of Ukraine added that he has a serious offer in the context of Ukrainian drones. At the same time, Trump confirmed that the United States is interested in Ukrainian drones, although it creates many of its own drones. Trump noted:

"We produce our own drones, but we also buy them from others. And they [the Ukrainians] make very good drones."

He said that the nature of war has changed due to the use of drones. As Trump emphasized, he has a commitment to ensuring that the United States is provided for by everyone.

"You never know what's going to happen in war and peace. So we'll be talking about Tomahawks, and we'd rather they didn't need Tomahawks. Frankly, we'd rather the war was over," Trump stressed.
