BRASÍLIA – Federal deputy Marcos Pollon (PL-MS), the last to back down in the mutiny that prevented the work of the Chamber this week, called the president of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), “shit” and “short of one meter and 60″ days before.
The statement was made in an impassioned speech during a demonstration in defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on Sunday, 3, in Mato Grosso do Sul, the parliamentarian's state.
In that same statement, Pollon expressed no fear that he might be ending his own political career."I won't back down, and the job can go to hell. I came here to denounce those who handed over the PL to the filthy PSDB. Scoundrels," he said."'Pollon, you just handed over your political seat' – fuck that, I'm not handing over my country," he concluded.
"The amnesty is on Hugo Motta's... account. We want to make the people face Alexandre de Moraes, but we can't face that piece of shit Hugo Motta, a short guy who's 5'3", said Pollon. Hugo Motta is 6'3".
This video was also posted on the congressman's own social media profile. When contacted, Pollon responded with a message allegedly sent by one of the inmates accused of participating in the January 8 coup. In the message, this unidentified person urges Pollon"not to back down" and "not to stop fighting."
He then sent a note to the press."I have maintained a respectful and collaborative mandate with everyone throughout, strictly adhering to decorum, in the hope that my peers would have a minimum of humanity when considering the reality of these people. Unfortunately, in Brazil, foul language is more scandalous than the torture and murder of innocent people," he said.
Also sought by Estadão, Hugo Motta did not comment.
Pollon was one of the targets of a complaint filed by the Workers' Party (PT), which is requesting his precautionary removal and the opening of a complaint to the Chamber's Ethics Committee. The party claims that Pollon, by sitting in the main chair of the Executive Committee,"directly interfered with the authority of the House's president and the legitimate functioning of parliamentary work."
"This precautionary sanction serves as an element of institutional protection for the Board, Parliament, and democracy, holding accountable those who invade the physical and symbolic space designated for representative positions, as well as demonstrating that such attitudes will not be tolerated and must be punished firmly," the representation states.
This Thursday, the 7th, Motta said that he would take measures regarding possible punishments for the deputies who resisted giving up space for the president of the Chamber to begin the plenary work.
On Tuesday the 5th, Bolsonaro supporters occupied the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate, preventing work from taking place in the plenary. In the Chamber, the riot was only ended on Wednesday night, after arduous negotiations. Pollon was the last opposition deputy to give up his seat to Motta.
"What happened between yesterday and today, in a movement of physical obstruction, did not do this House any good. The opposition has every right to speak out, the opposition has every right to express its will," the Speaker of the House stated.
