"Thanks to the activities of the Cypriot security authorities, in cooperation with the Israeli security services, a terrorist attack was foiled. Israel thanks Cyprus for its quick and effective actions," Saar wrote in a post on the X network.

He also accused Iran's"criminal regime" of "intentionally targeting Israeli civilians both inside and outside Israel," reports the Times of Israel.

"Israel will continue to act in order to eliminate the existential threat posed by the Iranian terrorist regime," Sar said.

The police in Cyprus arrested a male person suspected of terrorist activities and espionage, local authorities announced earlier today. The suspect appeared today before a District Court judge, who ordered an eight-day detention until the investigation is completed, Reuters reported.

Police said they would not release further details citing national security concerns. Cyprus is very close to the Middle East and in recent days has been used as a transit point for people either leaving or going to the Middle East region due to the conflict between Israel and Iran. However, according to Reuters, terrorist offenses in this island nation are very rare.
