Tehran and Beijing have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding ties, with the presidents of both countries vowing to fully implement a 25‑year strategic cooperation agreement signed in 2021.

In a meeting in the Chinese capital Beijing on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is ready to work with China “under any circumstances” to elevate relations to their highest level, stressing that Beijing can count on Tehran as a “strong and determined friend and ally.”

“We are ready for cooperation for the implementation of all provisions of the comprehensive 25‑year agreement of the two countries,” he said.

Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s goal of promoting peace and security in the region and opposing oppression, aggression, and unilateralism.

“America, in the direction of continuation and expansion of the policy of unilateralism, gives itself permission for aggression against different countries, and now no longer in this regard knows any limit or boundary,” Pezeshkian said.

“The principal and fundamental goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the stabilization and strengthening of peace and security in the region. We must prevent oppression and aggression, and unilateralism,” he said.

Pezeshkian also expressed interest in joint projects such as high‑speed rail and major highway construction, noting the “significant potential” for cooperation.

Iran ready for ‘serious' cooperation with China, Pezeshkian says ahead of visit

President Xi Jinping said China is willing to develop relations with Iran as a strategic partner “with a forward‑looking approach” and to accelerate the implementation of previous agreements, including those reached in the Russian city of Kazan last year on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit.

He said China is ready to expand ties on a “win‑win” basis, particularly in transportation.

“During the past years, despite the sanctions of America and Western countries, we have created the grounds for continuation of cooperation, and at present we are also ready, in a win‑win manner, to expand our relations in all fields, especially in the sphere of transportation.”

He condemned the US-Israeli attacks on Iran as a “blatant violation of international principles,” affirmed that “force is never a solution.”
