The government has adopted a decision to ban the dismissed President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, from entering the country.

Minister for Slovenians Abroad and Around the World Matej Arčon said that at today's regular government session, a decision was adopted to ban the dismissed President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik from entering the country. He explained that the reasons were confidential and that he was not allowed to provide further details about the ban.

He said that they had recently had a long discussion about a possible ban, and now they have decided to ban Dodik from entering the country. The ban applies only to Dodik and not to his family. Archon also explained that sanctions against Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu have not yet been discussed. He cannot yet talk about the decision to ban the Israeli president from entering the country, as it has not yet been made, Archon explained."It can happen, yes," he only hinted.

"We have enough competent experts in our country who can assess when and why the time is right for this [banning the Israeli president from entering Slovenia," he said when asked why the government is taking so long to decide on a possible ban on Netanyahu from entering Slovenia while war is raging in Gaza.

The government began considering the grounds for banning Milorad Dodik from entering Slovenia .

Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina temporarily annuls Banja Luka's decisions regarding Dodik

At an extraordinary session on August 22, the Parliament of Republika Srpska adopted resolutions rejecting the decisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State Election Commission, based on which Dodik's mandate as president of this entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina was terminated.

The MPs stated in their resolutions that they oppose the call for early elections for the president of Republika Srpska. They called on Dodik to continue to perform his duties as the entity's president, and they requested that all institutions in the entity refrain from carrying out any activities related to the call for elections.

A request for a review of the constitutionality of the decisions was filed earlier this month by 14 members of the BiH parliament. The Constitutional Court then temporarily overturned them on Wednesday, warning that they would have no legal effect until a final decision, Bosnian-Herzegovinian public broadcaster BHRT reported.

The Election Commission stripped Dodik of his mandate last month after he was sentenced to a year in prison and a six-year ban on political activity for disrespecting the decisions of the High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After Dodik's dismissal, she decided that early elections in Republika Srpska to elect a new president of the entity would be held on November 23. Today, according to media reports in BiH, she appointed the presidents and deputy presidents of the election committees, who should organize the conduct of the elections.

The Parliament of Republika Srpska, in which the majority is held by a coalition of parties gathered around Dodik's League of Independent Social Democrats, has meanwhile adopted a series of constitutionally controversial decisions.

Among other things, it set October 25 as the date for a referendum in the entity to decide on the ruling of the BiH court and the election commission's decision regarding Dodik. Earlier this month, it approved a new government that legal experts say is illegitimate.
