Boom (Belgium) – Huge fire on the grounds of the"Tomorrowland" festival in Belgium!

An immense cloud of black smoke can be seen over the festival grounds, which were scheduled to begin on Friday. At least three-quarters of the main stage are currently ablaze.

Tomorrowland main stage is on fire

As the organizer confirmed on Wednesday evening, the festival's main stage is ablaze."Emergency services are on site; our top priority now is safety," festival spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told the Dutch daily newspaper "De Telegraaf." The fire broke out around 6 p.m.

Emergency personnel are doing everything they can to prevent the flames from spreading to the vegetation behind the stage and to a nearby tent. Police are using drones to monitor the fire from above.

Residents should keep windows closed

"We advise people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed. The police are on site in large numbers," said local authorities in Boom, Belgium. The streets around the festival grounds are being kept clear for firefighters and other emergency services. Fortunately, there have been no injuries so far.

Fireworks were cited as a possible cause of the fire. Sparks may have spread to the massive stage structures during a test. Residents reported hearing several explosions to local media. According to VRT NWS, some DJs had already begun their sound checks on stage on Wednesday.

Campers arrive on Thursday

Last year, a total of 400,000 visitors attended the electronic and techno festival. Acts such as Armin van Buuren, Eric Pryds, Charlotte De Witte, Afrojack, Boris Brejcha, David Guetta, Robin Schulz, and Deadmau5 are scheduled to perform in 2025. The top acts were scheduled to perform on the main stage. It is said that almost a year of work went into the spectacular construction.

Campers would have been able to arrive starting Thursday. Whether"Tomorrowland" can take place as planned remains unclear. The organizer is currently warning against fake news claiming the festival has been canceled. This is not the case.

Festival stars horrified

"I just saw this all over the news. It breaks my heart," Charlotte De Witte, who was scheduled to play at Tomorrowland on Saturday, said on Instagram. DJ Anouk Matton is also booked for the main stage. She said before her DJ set at Ushuaïa in Ibiza:"I'm in complete shock... I hope the festival can still go ahead."
