Video: In the heart of Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI) revisits the Green March in images on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The exhibition"A Memory in Motion" brings together works by Daoud Aoulad-Syad and those from the Marrakech Photography Encounters, creating a visual mosaic where collective memory, landscapes of the South, and intimate narratives of Moroccan identity intersect.

The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI) in Rabat celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Green March this Friday by unveiling a photographic exhibition, A Memory in Motion, dedicated to this founding episode in the history of the Kingdom. The ceremony took place in the presence of Mehdi Qotbi, President of the National Museums Foundation (FNM), Abdelaziz El Idrissi, Head of the Museums Department, and Nadia Sabri, the new Director of the MMVI.

On this occasion, Mehdi Qotbi praised the remarkable work of his teams, whom he warmly thanked for designing a visual journey worthy of this anniversary, described as a true turning point in Moroccan history, which allowed the Kingdom to recover its Saharan provinces in 1975. The exhibition, he emphasized, reaffirms the power of vision, these photographs inviting the public to appreciate the true value of the values of peace, unity, and loyalty that continue to nourish the soul of Morocco.

In a press release, the Museum specifies that the exhibition brings together works by Daoud Aoulad-Syad as well as a selection from the Marrakech Photography Encounters (RPM). This juxtaposition, according to the same source, underscores the powerful connection between memory, culture, and identity. Daoud Aoulad-Syad's images are distinguished by a keen attention to the interplay of light and the landscapes of the South, conveyed through a poetic vision that reveals a Sahara vibrant with life, where each scene whispers a human story and each breath of wind evokes the historical depth of the landscape.

The photographs from the Marrakech Photography Encounters, for their part, highlight the plurality of perspectives: press images, intimate archives and rarely revealed family photos compose a powerful mosaic of Moroccan identity, at the crossroads of documentary, memory and emotion.

The Green March is addressed both as a foundational historical event and as a shared human experience, which the exhibition seeks to revive and transmit to new generations through the photographic medium. Mehdi Qotbi also noted that, on this occasion, all museum spaces under the National Foundation of Museums were accessible free of charge on Thursday, November 6, 2025, illustrating the FNM's commitment to making this commemoration a moment of remembrance, education, and cultural democratization.
