Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, said that “Marrakech has been the focus of global attention over the past few days, with the world hoping for the success of the Interpol General Assembly, given its direct impact on global security and stability.” He added: “The eyes of security institutions around the world, and through them all law enforcement authorities, have turned towards the Kingdom of Morocco, awaiting the results of your General Assembly, hoping for recommendations and decisions that will strengthen international security cooperation and support police cooperation worldwide.”

In a speech delivered during the closing session of the 93rd General Assembly of the Organization, held in Marrakech, Hammouchi added, “The Kingdom of Morocco is honored to be present amidst this international attention by hosting these proceedings.” He continued, “The city of Marrakech is also pleased that its name and rich history are associated with the outcomes of your wise recommendations and decisions. The National Security and Territorial Surveillance services of the Kingdom are proud to have participated in the proceedings of your General Assembly and contributed to providing the appropriate conditions to ensure the success of this session, thereby strengthening our collective security and implementing our shared and forward-looking vision for a more secure and stable world.”

The same Moroccan security official affirmed that “the current session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) was a success on all levels, and was exceptional in the number of participating countries and international organizations, in the level and scale of representation of member states, and in the results, decisions, and recommendations issued.” He continued, “In Morocco, we were confident of the success of this session and believed that it would serve as a gateway to strengthening multilateral security cooperation and a starting point for facilitating bilateral cooperation among INTERPOL member states. From this perspective, we ensured optimal preparation for this session and committed to providing all the necessary conditions and resources for its success, because we are convinced that the security of Morocco and the safety of its citizens stem from ensuring the safety and security of all member states of the organization.”

The same spokesperson continued: “Our conviction stems from the fact that security is an integrated and indivisible system based on fair and mutual cooperation and respect, as well as on accuracy, credibility, and collective action. Our commitment was unwavering, and our conviction was firm that this session would be exceptional in its participation and successful in its proceedings, thanks to the presence of international experts, seasoned security officials, and competent representatives of participating international and regional organizations. This enabled it to produce innovative decisions and advanced recommendations capable of addressing the numerous security challenges, achieving the stability we all aspire to, and reaping the benefits of security and peace that all countries of the world look forward to.”

In concluding his speech, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance praised “the commendable efforts made by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi throughout his presidency of the Interpol organization, which enabled it to occupy a prestigious position internationally,” adding: “His Excellency Dr. Al Raisi, with his characteristic wisdom, long experience and good leadership of the organization, contributed to bringing the member states closer together, unifying the organization’s vision and strengthening its operational presence.”

Hammouchi also congratulated the new president of the International Criminal Police Organization, Frenchman Luca Philippe, expressing to him “the commitment of the national security and territorial surveillance interests in Morocco to work with him responsibly and cooperate with him in accordance with the organization’s statutes.”
