Welcome to our coverage of US politics.
A key supporter of Donald Trump has been shot at an event with indications his condition is serious.
Charlie Kirk, a controversial figure who founded right wing youth group Turning Point USA, was reportedly at a university when he was shot in the neck in front of hundreds of people.
Mr Trump has urged Americans to pray for him.
Meanwhile, the US president has responded, somewhat vaguely, to accusations Russian drones entered Polish air space overnight on Wednesday.
“What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones?” he said on social media, followed by “Here we go!”
Mr Trump also spoke to the Polish president after up to 19 drones entered Poland and several were shot down.
Russia hasn’t outright denied it was behind the drones but has said there was no plan to “attack” Poland. But Poland and other western leaders have called the move “intentional” and “reckless”.
It comes as former US Vice President Kamala Harris said the decision behind Joe Biden remaining for so long in the US election race in 20204 was “reckless”.
Ms Harris, who hasn’t ruled out running for president once more, is set to release a book on her truncated and unsuccessful election campaign.
In an extract released on Wednesday, US time, Ms Harris slammed Mr Biden staying in the race for so long.
“In retrospect… I think it was recklessness.”
