Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is against holding negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. He explained his position in network X .

The politician recalled that in 1994, a memorandum was signed in Budapest, according to which Ukraine allegedly received guarantees of territorial integrity from major countries, including Russia.

"Budapest? Not everyone remembers this, but in 1994, Ukraine already received guarantees of territorial integrity from the USA, Russia and Great Britain. In Budapest," the Polish Prime Minister noted.

Tusk suggested that he was"superstitious" but advised him to "try to find another place" this time.

What is known about the location of the probable meeting between Zelensky and Putin?

As UNIAN previously reported, Zelensky and Putin talks could take place in Hungary. This version was voiced by Reuters, citing a senior US administration official. At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the meeting could be organized in Geneva, saying that a neutral country is needed for this.

Also Belarus proposed to arrange a meeting Zelensky and Putin. As Natalya Eismont, the press secretary of self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, stated,"Belarus has not asked for and is not asking for the role of mediator," but, they say, if it is necessary for peace in the"fraternal republic," then they are "ready to organize any meeting."

According to Sky News, Among the venues for the negotiations are being considered Geneva, Vienna, Rome, Budapest and Doha. Geneva (Switzerland) is considered the best option, but Rome (or the Vatican) is not liked by Russians, and Budapest is not liked by Ukrainians.
