After Cepeda's victory in the internal consultation of the Historic Pact, President Gustavo Petro spoke out through his account on the social network X.

“Democracy is imposed and it must be obeyed. The people have freely chosen. And now it is what Colombian society wants, whether backward or forward,” said President Petro. In another message on X, President Petro stated: “ The people's right to vote is constitutional, let the people vote, there are no more slaves and servile people, we are a society of free and emancipated beings.”

Senator Cepeda won the polls over Carolina Corcho, former Minister of Health.

Former presidential candidate Gustavo Bolívar also spoke out about Cepeda's victory in the internal consultation of the Historic Pact who, in turn, asked that Corcho be taken into account for a vice-presidential ticket.

Iván Cepeda winner. He will be the candidate of the Historic Pact in the broad front. To Carolina Corcho all my admiration for such a wonderful and clean campaign. I hope she is taken into account in some vice-presidential formula. In the Senate, @MeDicenWally leads. Today the internal democracy for which we fought so hard triumphed,” Bolívar said punctually in a message on the social network X.

The CNE made its statement after the consultation to choose the leftist candidate ended.

Through a statement, the National Electoral Council (CNE) emphasized that this entity fulfilled its inspection, surveillance and control work during the internal consultation of the Historic Pact carried out this Sunday, October 26.

"Within the framework of the consultations carried out today, October 26, the National Electoral Council permanently carried out its inspection, surveillance, and oversight functions in this democratic event, fulfilling the objective of materializing transparency, legality, and confidence in the Colombian Electoral System," the CNE stated.

And they added: “ 16,704 electoral witnesses were accredited for the 19,833 voting tables installed throughout the country. Likewise, the president of the CNE visited the polling station located at Corferias in Bogotá D.C., the largest installed in the country for today's Consultations on October 26, supervising the normal functioning of the democratic day.”
