Trump's Tariff Policies and International Relations

" I am prepared to impose major sanctions on Russia when all NATO states agree and begin to do the same, and when all NATO states stop buying oil from Russia ," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, according to Reuters.

He proposed that NATO, as a group, introduce tariffs of between 50% and 100% on China, to weaken its economic influence over Russia.

This initiative follows Trump's previous threats of sanctions on Moscow and secondary sanctions against countries that buy its oil, particularly China and India, if no progress is made towards ending the war in Ukraine.

The president has already imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian products, citing Russian oil imports, but has not taken similar action against China.

The White House leader emphasized that the war in Ukraine "is not Trump's war," but "Biden and Zelensky's war."

"I am here only to help stop and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives. 7,118 lives lost last week, in just one week," Trump wrote.

He added that if NATO follows his plan,"the war will end quickly and all these lives will be saved."
