US Diplomatic Efforts and Trump's Peace Plan

Battle for Pokrovsk

Russia's war against Ukraine is nearing completion, it is likely that this will happen in early 2026. This was stated by Fedir Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, from the"Servant of the People" faction, in an interview. Telegraph .

"I spoke with representatives of our delegation in Geneva and I know that the most important interests of Ukraine were defended. The American and European partners agreed to them. Now, as I understand it, the peace process is at the stage where the developed algorithm and the points that have already been agreed with the partners must now be agreed upon by Vitkoff in Moscow," he noted.

After that, according to the deputy, we will have some feedback and understand whether Moscow is ready or not ready for peace in general.

Venislavsky emphasized that our efforts and our reaction to this peace plan have shown that Ukraine is always ready for peace. The fact that we went to Geneva, agreed to some points that may not be very pleasant for us, and defended others, shows that Ukraine is ready to sign a peace plan.

"Now the ball will be in Russia's court, and for us this will be a marker. Given Putin's statements, Russia has not abandoned its maximalist goals of gaining full control over the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions. They want this to be recognized. For us, this is unacceptable," he explained.

In his opinion, a more sober negotiation process will take place, where positions that are acceptable to Ukraine and those that are not will be agreed upon.

"De facto, we understand that today there is no capacity to recapture the occupied territories. Therefore, we must admit that these territories will probably remain temporarily occupied for some time," the People's Deputy noted.

Venislavsky also expressed confidence that American partners want to make every effort to stop the war.

"I said this back in September, that as soon as the presidents of Ukraine and the US meet, and then Ukraine, the US and our European partners, then the time for the end of the war can probably be calculated in weeks, not months. And I think that everything is heading towards that anyway. I remain convinced that the war is coming to an end. Maybe it won't be so fast, not this year (although I don't rule it out, because we still have the whole of December) or it will be in February, March. But this is definitely a short-term, not a long-term perspective. The war will definitely not last for years," he summed up.

Other statements about the end of the war

As UNIAN reported, in September Venislavsky made a similar statement. Then he said that this is particularly indicated by one of the statements of US President Donald Trump. According to him, the American leader clearly understands that without his personal participation in the negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin dictator Putin, this process will not go ahead.

The People's Deputy also explained that a bilateral meeting between Zelensky and Putin is unlikely to yield any results.
