PARIS. The 2025 Tour de France cycling race finished today with the 21st stage, which is flat in nature.
- Profile of the 21st stage of the Tour de France 2025
After last year's exception caused by the Olympic Games, the most famous cycling race has returned to the French capital.
Spectators did not witness the traditional final stage with champagne and the expected sprint finish on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
Although the finish was on this famous boulevard, the prepared circuit was spiced up by the climb of the Cote de la Butte Montmartre (1.1 km and a gradient of 5.9%).

This year's Tour de France is in the past, last year's championship was defended by Tadej Pogačar, who dominated the most famous cycling stage race for the fourth time. Today, the Slovinec had his sights set on a stage victory, but he ended up outside the podium. During the circuits of the Champs-Élysées, a group of 28 riders separated from the peloton in heavy rain, including the Czech Pavel Bittner, during the middle of the three climbs to Montmartre, a group of six took the lead, and on the last climb of Pogačar, Visma's Wout van Aert broke away, winning a decisive blockbuster and, just like four years ago in Paris, celebrating the final stage triumph.
That's all from this year's Tour de France, Karel Jedlička thanks you for your attention for all those who have been preparing online videos of its course for you over the past three weeks. Have a nice Sunday evening!

The stage is over.
In the end, Pavel Bittner did not stay in the chase group and finished today's stage alone in 27th place.
Due to the neutralization of the time 50 kilometers before the finish line, other riders are already commuting without trying to race, fortunately today there was no fall or other forced end and all 160 participating cyclists will finish the stage.
goal
Davide Ballerini got just ahead of Matej Mohorič in the sprint, overall winner Tadej Pogačar finished fourth.
goal
After four years, Wout van Aert repeats the stage primacy on the Elysian Fields, this time with a completely relaxed finish!

0.8
At the Place de la Concorde, Wout van Aert turns back onto the Champs-Élysées and goes for the sixth Belgian stage victory at this year's Tour de France!
1.3
A disappointed Pogačar has already dropped out of the next group and will probably finish fifth.
2.7
Pogačar hung up and let the rest of the escape take him, Wout van Aert completes a triumphant ride along the Elysian Fields to the finish line.
5.4
That was an absolutely impressive start for the Belgian rider Visma. Jorgenson, Trentin, Mohorič and Ballerini took a significant loss within a few hundred meters, only Pogačar can threaten van Aert's victory.
The 2021 winner Wout van Aert reached the top of Montmartre already with a visible lead over Tadej Pogačar, which is also still increasing!
6.5
Wout van Aert attacks and gets ahead of Pogačar, the other four riders are not enough for the murderous pace of this pair and fall away!
6.8
Tadej Pogačar has worked his way to the front and is setting the pace, but the rest of the group is still holding on.
7.1
The final hike to Montmartre begins!
8.5
Mohorič stuck to Jorgenson and forced Pogačar to ride for a while, but the Slovene soon closed the small gap.
10.5
Jorgenson is leading the pace of the race, but Visma will have a hard time against Pogačar, even when outnumbered, which has already been proven more than once this year.
13
Pogačar wants to attack just like last year for the final stage triumph in the yellow jersey, his group increases the lead by over half a minute.
16.7
The bell rings for the final circuit! The leader of the six again slightly increased its lead, the second group with Pavel Bittner loses 19 seconds to it.
19
Pogačar is holding back on the level in the six-man group at the back, even the Vismy duo is not preparing for a blockbuster, so it's still not hopeless even for the rest of the original escape, which loses only 15 seconds.
22
In the descent, Mohorič reached the leading group at the edge of danger, having already twice on the slippery surface managed to avoid hitting the barriers around the track.
22.9

22.9
During the second ascent, Pogačar, Jorgenson and van Aert broke away from the main group, along with Trentin from Tudor and Ballerini from Astana. The man in the yellow jersey from the UAE takes another point for the climbing bonus.
23.4
The pace of the ascent is dictated by the pair of Visma, but in the middle of the hill, Pogačar is starting to climb again.
24
The racers make a second turn up Montmartre. The leading group already has a lead of 45 seconds, and if no disaster happens, it will be decided among its members about the winner of the stage.
28
Pavel Bittner drove to the head of a large leading group, which is now being led by Pogačar's compatriot Mohorič from Bahrain. The main task of the Czech domestic player will be to support Lund Andresen, who is also among the refugees, but the next ascent to Montmartre can tear the group apart again.
32
The weather worsened sharply within a few minutes, so far the competitors are fighting bravely with wet cobblestones, whipped by the downpour. The leading group already has 28 riders, including Pogačar, Vauquelin, Jorgenson, the Paret-Peintr brothers, Campenaerts, Girmay and also Pavel Bittner, and is moving away from the main pack.
33.5
Bastien Tronchon from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale was the first to cross the finish line for the fifth time in the increasing rain. Less than twenty drivers in the leading group lose only four seconds on the Frenchman.
37
Andresen also managed to catch up with the leading group, and others are gradually joining as the order spills over and the stretched peloton breaks away.
39
During the descent through the narrow winding streets around the Sacré Couer basilica, the group of six, which also includes Berckmoes and Teunissen, created a small lead over the main pack.
39.6
In the final meters before the top, Tadej Pogačar took over in the yellow jersey, quickly erased the created gap on the leading pair and slipped through for a point in the climbing competition. Wout van Aert also rode behind his rear wheel.
40
Hugely encouraged Julian Alaphilippe from Tudor starts, followed by Arnaud De Lie from Lotto.
40.7
The 1,100-meter-long hike begins on the cobblestones of Montmartre, with Haller and Alaphilippe in the lead.
43
The peloton has already caught up with the two fugitives and there is a fight between the teams to create an advantageous position before the start of the climb, where there will be very challenging overtaking in the narrow streets around the Moulin Rouge.
44
Lipowitz and Simmons are still around 12 seconds ahead of the peloton, which keeps them out of sight. For the first time, cyclists turn right from the Egyptian obelisk instead of up the Champs-Élysées towards Montmartre.
47
The cobblestones claimed several victims in the form of punctured wheels, Jordi Meeus from Bora, who certainly had ambitions for a potential mass finish, had to stop after Alexej Lucenko.
50.3
With a lead of 11 seconds, Florian Lipowitz and Quinn Simmons crossed the finish line for the fourth time, so this small time gap will count towards their overall standings, as the rest of the stage will only be run outside the competition. For the German from Bory, it is a definitive confirmation of the third place and the white jersey.
52
Simmons and Lipowitz have 10 seconds to spare, they should be able to reach that by the neutralization of the stage, from which they are separated by only one and a half kilometers.
55
Another interesting pair in the lead is the overall bronze medalist Florian Lipowitz with the hairy American Quinn Simmons. Both have a lead of six seconds, while the time will be neutralized after the next crossing of the finish line.
56.5
Jonathan Milan in the green jersey gets points for the seventh sprint premium won ahead of Abrahamsen, Girmay, Turgis and Johannesen.
58
In the EFE-EP jersey, he tried to break away from Powless, but soon a look over his shoulder indicated that even this escape would have no chance of success. The peloton came together again.
60
The fugitives soon broke up and while the other members of the group were caught up, Powless and Buitrago remained in front, who, on the other hand, were overtaken by the initiator of today's first start, Cort Nielsen. The peloton again drives around the Tuileries and after another turn, heads towards the only sprint premium.
62
Around the Napoleonic monument Arc de Triomphe, a group led by Abrahamsen and Buitrag broke away from the peloton and created a slightly more promising lead. We also see Powles, Pithie, Haller, Askey, Izagirre and Drizners in it.
64
Healy led a group of pursuers, which soon eliminated Renard's escape. The peloton is back together at the next crossing of the finish line.
66
Mainly thanks to Quinn Simmons from Lidl-Trek, the Dane's escape was soon absorbed. Next, Alexis Renard is trying to break away from Cofidis, but so far these are only short-term starts that the peloton easily watches over.
69
Magnus Cort Nielsen from Uno-X Mobility was the first to try racing today, but other riders soon took him to a difference of a few seconds.
71
At the exit from the Place de la Concorde to the wide Champs-Élysées, the peloton led by the UAE team Nils Politt, the other competitors kept a respectful distance from the Tour winner's stable during the first pass through the finish line.
74
Cyclists have crossed the Seine, are going around the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens and will start heading towards the Arc de Triomphe for the first time on a relatively dry surface.
79
Cyclists approach the Jacques Chirac embankment along the Seine to the center of Paris towards the Eiffel Tower, still decorated with the Olympic flag.
86.5
The peloton passed the second hillclimb premium without any effort to compete. The photocell had to decide who was the first to cross the width of the galuska with the marked line, and with a delay, Pavel Sivakov gets a point in the competition for the polka dot jersey.
87.2
A short but steep (9.7%) seven-hundred-meter climb to the Pavé de Gardes awaits the competitors before Paris, awarded with another climbing bonus.
89
The road in Chaville is wet after the rain, it is also raining in the area of the finish, which is the reason for shortening the stage from the point of view of time for the overall standings.

94
There is still nothing happening on the track, the Tour director offers viewers aerial views of the palace gardens of Versailles, past which the peloton is currently passing.
97
From the point of view of time, the stage will be shortened to only 4 passes along the Champs-Elysées, so it will lose a little of its interest, because the following trips to Montmartre will only take place outside the competition. Of course, even in the remaining 50 kilometers it will still be a valuable stage primacy.
99.6
Cyclists pass through Saint-Cyr-l'École and enter Paris in less than 20 kilometers. The first hour of the stage was driven at an average speed of 32.7 km/h.
105
The pace gradually increases after all, the peloton goes together, but the average speed of the stage has already exceeded thirty.
113
Clouds are gathering over Paris, it is unusually cold for July, the temperature does not even reach twenty degrees. It's not raining yet, but if it starts, time will be neutralized on the passage over the cobblestones.
119
The race has not yet started today, the peloton is moving at an average speed of 23 km/h and at this pace we would probably reach the longest stage of the whole year. Perhaps the approach to Paris will make the cyclists go a little faster.
122.4
To the delight of the spectators gathered in Bazemont, the first climbing premium was won by local Mattéo Vercher from TotalEnergies. He made himself known the most by breaking away in the opening stage around Lille, where he won the prize for the warrior of the stage.
124
The road rises soon after the start, the reward for first place on the 1.7 km long Côte de Bazemont hill with an average slope of 6.3% is one point in the climbing competition.
128
In addition to team teams, national groups also take to the track, Australians and Italians ride together. It's a shame that Pavel Bittner has no one to pose with in this context at his premiere at the Tour de France.

To be honest, a sharp start has already taken place, so far there is nothing to tell about the course of the stage. The UAE riders in the seven are holding each other by the shoulders and posing for photographers in the opening kilometers of the track without being attacked by anyone.
The stage has begun.
The section between the neutral and sharp start is used by cyclists at a leisurely pace to take group photos and is ridden at a leisurely pace, there is still a kilometer left before the start of the stage.
Even if there wasn't an unwritten rule about not attacking the overall standings in the last stage, the final stage could not change anything significant about the final results of this year's Tour de France.
Defending champion Tadej Pogačar will celebrate his fourth title in a sovereign manner, equaling Chris Froome's achievement from 2013-2017 and only one victory will separate him from equaling the historical record.
In the competition for the green jersey, Jonathan Milan also has an unattainable lead, today there are only 70 points in the game including the goal. Also, the first place in the mountaineer competition cannot escape Pogačar, and the polka dot jersey will be retained by the second Jonas Vingegaard, whose home team Lenny Martinez cannot catch up due to an eight-point disqualification for illegal assistance of a companion vehicle.
Nice Sunday afternoon to fans of cycling. The 112th edition of the most famous bicycle race in the world will close today on the 21st stage, which returns to Paris after a one-year break due to last year's Olympic Games. This year, the organizers have decided to add variety to the traditional finish on the Champs Elysées circuit, where the Tour culminates for the fiftieth time, with a detour to Montmartre, which the cyclists climb a total of three times before returning to the main Parisian boulevard.
From the start in Mantes-la-Ville, even before arriving in the capital, the competitors are waiting for two climbing bonuses of the 4th category, i.e. evaluated with only one point. In Paris, there is a sprint premium on the third pass of the Champs-Élysées, and each of the three ascents to Montmartre is also a climbing premium of the lowest category.
