Meteorologists, predicting intense storms and devastating downpours for Monday, did not mince their words. Residents of many Polish counties, who are already facing the effects of dangerous atmospheric phenomena, have learned this.
It is particularly dangerous in Małopolska, where since 1 p.m. the fire brigade has intervened over 420 times. The greatest damage was recorded in the following counties: Bochnia, Brzesko, Tarnów, Sucha and Myślenice.

Storms over Poland. Firefighters have their hands full
Around 90 roofs were damaged in the province, including the church in Brzesko. A 100 square metre roof covering was torn off the school in Nieszkowice Wielkie.
- A roof with an area of approx. 100 square meters on the primary school was torn and partially torn off. We are securing it to prevent any secondary effects and losses - explained in an interview with Polsat News Brig. Paweł Matyjasik from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bochnia.

The storms break branches of trees, which land on the streets, causing traffic disruptions. Broken branches also land near households and on high-voltage lines.
Due to damage to power lines there is a power outage in many places. The structures of some buildings have also been destroyed. The firefighters have their hands full and are constantly leaving for new calls.

Things are also dangerous in Podkarpackie Province, where heavy rainfall causes small rivers and watercourses to quickly swell. Water washes away the ground, and strong winds break branches that fall onto the streets. In Przemyśl a tree fell on a car, and in Sanok there were numerous floods.

By 5 p.m. alone, the fire department had carried out about 100 interventions, most in the Stalowa Wola district. Rescuers from Rzeszów reported in a statement that the actions were related to removing broken branches and trees from roads, sidewalks, properties and power lines. They also assured that no one had been injured so far.
In many places in the country, hailfalls also occur. The hailstones are so large that they can cause significant damage to both cars and buildings. The phenomenon was reported in the Podkarpacie and Lublin regions, among others.
