Tomás Uribe Moreno, son of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, spoke out this Monday, August 11, following the death of senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay , who fought for his life for more than two months after being the victim of an attack on June 7.

The former president's son was forceful with his message through his personal X account: “ Petro and the heirs of the FARC are responsible for the assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay ”.

Tomás recalled the story the senator experienced when his mother, journalist Diana Turbay, was murdered after being kidnapped by the Medellín cartel more than 30 years ago.

“Miguel Uribe Turbay was just 4 years old when drug traffickers murdered his mother. Today, his 5-year-old son is another orphan of this same criminal monster,” he said. He added that the criminals have always been the same: “Drug trafficking mutates, camouflages itself, and changes names: drug traffickers, FARC, AUC, M-19, Bacrim, Narcosocialism. Different acronyms, the same cursed business. Today, he has allied himself with the Heirs of the FARC through the Pact of the Picota, seeking to consolidate, alongside the Cartel of the Suns, a binational narcosocialist bloc that will endure for generations.”

Likewise, Tomás lashed out at President Gustavo Petro for the current situation in Colombia following the assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay and the sentencing of his father.

“Emboldened by Petro’s constant instigation and his promise of total impunity, they and he are the only ones responsible for Miguel’s assassination and Álvaro Uribe’s imprisonment,” he explained.

Finally, the former president's son sent a message of hope ahead of Colombia's upcoming presidential elections, urging citizens to choose the best path for the country.

"We must all unite. We must learn from the Venezuelan tragedy, where a divided opposition allowed the dictatorship to take hold forever. Only by uniting can we win in 2026, extradite the heirs of the FARC, and root out drug trafficking—now transformed into narco-socialism," Tomás Uribe emphasized.
