Welcome to our coverage of US politics.
The US has said it killed 14 people in four separate strikes in the Pacific Ocean. It’s the largest number of strikes and deaths in a single day. One man survived.
At least 57 people have now been killed in the strikes, which has led to increasing tensions between the US and the governments of both Colombia and Venezuela.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said those killed were “narco terrorists”.
Donald Trump remains in Japan where he has met new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi who, it’s been claimed, has said she will nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The US president said Ms Takaichi was “going to go down as one of the great Prime Ministers”. High praise for someone who has been in the job for seven days.
Trump himself has also been spoken about in glowing terms, by the CEO’s of the world’s largest company.
