Russian air defenses neutralized 122 Ukrainian drones on Thursday night that were targeting the Moscow region and dozens of other Russian regions, TASR writes, citing a Reuters report.
More than half of the drones were destroyed by air defense over the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions, which border Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry said on the Telegram platform. Air defenses neutralized drones over 12 regions, while destroying three drones over the Moscow region. The most drones - 43 - were shot down over the Bryansk region and 38 over the Kursk region.
Smolensk Region Governor Vasily Anokhin said on Telegram that one person was injured and that there was minor damage to a civilian object.
According to Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev, who also reported the attack on Telegram, drone fragments hit a building in the city of Voronezh, injuring three minors.
According to Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, three people were killed and 17 others were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Wednesday.
Reuters said it could not independently verify the reports. Ukraine has not yet commented on the attacks.
Moscow and Kiev have accused each other of attacking civilians during the more than three-year war, which both sides deny. The Russian side only reports the number of drones shot down, not the total number launched towards Russian territory.
Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. In recent days, it has intensified its attacks, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles against the neighboring country every night. These attacks were cited by US President Donald Trump this week as the reason for his decision to approve the supply of weapons, including air defense systems, to Ukraine.
