Zelensky said that “first there must be a ceasefire, then security guarantees – real security guarantees.” “And, by the way, President Trump has expressed his support for this,” he added.

"Russia cannot have a veto over European or NATO perspectives against Ukraine," Zelensky also said of his conditions for peace.

He reiterated that Ukraine and its European allies want only one thing:"Peace in Ukraine, peace in Europe."

"Sanctions should be strengthened if Russia does not accept a ceasefire in Alaska," he said, according to CNN.

Zelensky added that he believes"Putin is bluffing" about the impact of the sanctions and that "sanctions are strongly affecting Russia's war economy."

"Putin certainly does not want peace; he wants to occupy Ukraine. Putin cannot fool anyone," the Ukrainian head of state stressed.

Asked at the press conference about the possibility of ceding territory in Donbas, Zelensky said his position remains unchanged.

"Any issue concerning the territorial integrity of Ukraine cannot be discussed simply, without taking into account our constitution and the will of our people. As for our principles, as for our territorial integrity, in the end, the decision will be made at the level of leaders. Without Ukraine (at the negotiating table), it is impossible to achieve," he said.
