President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte upon the Secretary General's request.
The latest developments regarding the war between Ukraine and Russia, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed during the meeting.
President Erdoğan stated that progress had been made in the Istanbul negotiations initiated by Türkiye to establish a permanent ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, and expressed his belief that this process also facilitates positive developments in humanitarian matters.
During the meeting, NATO Secretary General Rutte assessed the current situation in Ukraine ahead of the Alaska Summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Erdoğan also stated that Türkiye is closely following the Alaska meeting.
