Before boarding Air Force One, the US president commented on the war in Ukraine and outlined a specific, though unconfirmed, timeline for a possible peace summit.
Namely, when asked by a journalist about the conditions for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he could also participate, Donald Trump answered confidently:
- That will happen, and in two or three months.
The statement comes as the Trump administration focuses on a diplomatic solution to the conflict and follows recent threats of secondary sanctions against Russia if a peace deal is not reached by the deadline.
Trump arrives in Scotland under heavy security measures
By the way, more than 5,000 police officers and teams from all over Great Britain have been deployed in Scotland ahead of the arrival of President Donald Trump.
Trump arrives at his resort in Turnbury, Ayrshire, where he will play golf before scheduled political meetings next week, including a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, writes Sky News.
Turnbury, a town of about 200 inhabitants, has been under extreme security measures for days: checkpoints, sniper positions, restricted airspace, and the US Secret Service conduct searches of premises and surveillance of personnel.
Trump's meals are prepared by a personal chef for security reasons, while special vehicles and equipment, including the armored"Beast" limousine, arrived by US military aircraft at Prestwick Airport, which functions as a logistics base.
Trump will stay in Scotland from today until July 29, and after Turnberry, he will visit his second golf course in Aberdeenshire, where the opening of a new golf investment is also expected.
