NATO Summit and Defense Spending

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described his meeting with US President Donald Trump , which took place in The Hague, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, as substantial.

As he stated, they discussed how we can achieve a ceasefire and real peace , while emphasis was placed on protecting the population and infrastructure of Ukraine .

Zelensky congratulated the US president on the successful operation in the Middle East, which, he said, weakened both the Iranian nuclear program and its drone production capabilities.

He also referred to Ukraine's willingness to purchase American anti-aircraft systems, to protect cities, churches and critical infrastructure, calling on Europe to support the effort.

The two leaders also discussed the possibility of US-Ukrainian co-production of unmanned systems, with Zelensky emphasizing that we can strengthen each other.

He briefed Trump on the technical meetings in Istanbul and the latest exchanges of prisoners and bodies.

Russia handed over to us the bodies of its own dead, he said, adding that relevant examinations are being conducted in Kiev.

The Ukrainian president said he presented his American counterpart with specific data on the situation on the ground, stating emphatically: Putin is definitely not winning.

For his part, Donald Trump said it was possible that Russian President Vladimir Putin may have territorial ambitions that go beyond Ukraine, leaving open the possibility of escalation by Moscow in other regions.

He said he plans to speak with Putin soon with the aim of ending the war in Ukraine. Zelensky wants the war to end and I plan to talk about it with Putin very soon, he said at a press conference in The Hague, after the end of the NATO Summit.

Trump clarified that the issue of the ceasefire was not raised in his conversation with Zelensky.
