It is already clear that Serbia, with its defeat against Turkey in the last match of the group stage, has chosen the more difficult part of the draw for itself - it begins with a match against Finland in the round of 16.

Now the Eagles have found out about a potential rival in the next phase of the tournament, of course, on the condition that they justify their role as favorites and win the Finns (Saturday, 8:45 p.m.). Unfortunately, it is not good for our team, which is in an increasingly difficult part of the draw - France is a possible opponent in the quarter-finals.

Slovenia defeated Israel, France first in the group

The national team of Slovenia recovered from the initial two defeats at the start of the tournament, and with three tied victories reached the next stage - in the match of the fifth round of the group stage, they defeated Israel (106:96).

The most effective, as usual, was the unreal Luka Dončić with 37 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Aleksej Nikolić scored 16 points and Rok Radović 14 points. On the other hand, Danny Avdija led the list of scorers with 34 points, while Roman Sorkin had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Slovenia's victory means that France is first in Group D and will play Greece or Georgia in the Round of 16. The winner of that match can play Serbia in the quarterfinals. Poland took second place, Slovenia third, while Israel dropped to fourth.

Serbia at Eurobasket

Eurobasket  2025  started on August 27 and runs until September 14 in four countries: Finland, Poland, Latvia and Cyprus. 24 national teams are participating, which will play in four groups. The elimination phase of the European Basketball Championship is being played in Riga, where, in group A, the Serbian basketball team will also play. 

Serbia is in a group with the teams of Estonia ( 98:64 victory 80:69 victory ), Latvia ( won by 84:80 ), the Czech Republic ( won by 82:60 ) and Turkey ( ).
