The US Constitution sets a two-term limit for a president, and Trump began his second term in January.

However, some of his defenders suggest that Trump could circumvent this rule by becoming vice president and then re-entering the top job if the president were to resign.

Asked if he would run for vice president in November 2028, Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he"would be allowed to do that."

"I wouldn't do that. (..) That wouldn't be right," he added.

Trump has often mentioned that supporters are calling for him to rule beyond his current term, despite the constitutional limit.

Recently, Trump also placed red hats on his desk in the Oval Office with the words"Trump 2028" written on them.

A popular theory among his supporters is that current Vice President James David Vance could run for president in 2028 alongside Trump as his vice presidential running mate.

According to this vision, if Vance wins, he would soon resign and Trump would return to the presidency.

Trump's former advisor Steve Bannon has reportedly announced that"there is a plan" to keep Trump in the White House.

"He's going to get a third term. Trump will be president in '28. And people are just going to have to accept that," Bannon told The Economist.
