Who Was Charlie Kirk

The FBI released photos of a person suspected of murdering Charlie Kirk.

"We are asking for the public's help in identifying this individual in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University," the FBI's Salt Lake City office said in a post on X.

Authorities have been hunting for the perpetrator for about 24 hours and say they have good video of the suspect.

The FBI has announced that it is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

New evidence: Screwdriver near the gun

Authorities investigating the murder of Charlie Kirk have identified screwdriver next to rifle which is considered to be was used in the attack, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Investigators believe the perpetrator likely used it to disassemble and reassemble the weapon, removing the stock, so that it can be hide it in a bag or even in his clothes.

Earlier, the WSJ reported that the rifle and cartridges found in the woods near the murder scene were engraved with phrases related to cultural issues , among them slogans in support of the trans community and anti-fascist ideology.

The authorities have in their possession good video of the perpetrator. The head of Utah Public Safety, Beau Mason , had stated earlier that attempts are being made to identify the perpetrator and that if they fail, then the public will be asked for help.

The former FBI deputy director, Andrew McCabe , estimated that the authorities are likely using AI-based facial recognition software, which compares images of suspects with millions of photos from social networks and the internet.

This is, however, a controversial technology due to the risk of bias and possible misidentifications.

For his part, the president Donald Trump , leaving a memorial ceremony for the September 11 attacks at the Pentagon, said that he has not been informed beyond what has been publicly known.

"The authorities have launched a real manhunt. We'll see what happens. I hope we catch him," he said.
