247 – Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) published this Saturday (12) a message on social media in a tone of direct threat to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), stating that he is willing to go “to the last consequences” and calling on his supporters for a kind of crusade against what he called a “bloodthirsty regime”. The publication was made on his official account on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The inflammatory message was credited with inspiring quotes from authors such as William Shakespeare, G.K. Chesterton, and Thomas Jefferson, but its core is an explicit call for a break with the democratic rule of law."The true hour has come, which will separate the men from the cowards. There is only one possible agreement: the release of all political prisoners, the end of all persecution, and the departure of the most despicable tyrant that has ever ruled our republic, Alexandre de Moraes," he wrote.

The congressman, who is currently in the United States and has refused to return to Brazil since the investigation into the January 8, 2023, coup attacks intensified, adopted a messianic tone and announced that he had made a"commitment to God" to fight against what he considers a "tyranny." According to him,"sacrifice and pain will be the tributes exacted on the altar of freedom."

"I gave up my entire life in Brazil to have the means to fight against the bloodthirsty regime that is throwing old ladies in prison and killing fathers in the political torture dungeons of the tyrants who took over the country," he said, referring to the Supreme Court in an indirect but clear way. Eduardo also declared:"If we don't save Brazil, at least we will avenge it! May God protect us."

The post was accompanied by quotes such as: "Cowards die many times before their death, but the brave man tastes death but once" (Shakespeare), and Jefferson's line:"The tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural fertilizer."

Throughout the message, Eduardo repeats Bolsonaro's rhetoric that Brazil is under a"State of Exception" and asserts that "the atmosphere of fear is characteristic of a totalitarian regime." He calls on his "Brazilian brothers" not to succumb to fear and to join his struggle.

The publication rekindles alarm bells about the actions of pro-Bolsonaro politicians abroad and the increasingly radicalized rhetoric against the Brazilian judiciary, especially Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is responsible for the investigations into the coup plots and the use of social media to undermine democracy. Moraes is also the reporting judge in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for cases against Jair Bolsonaro and his allies, including Eduardo.

Eduardo Bolsonaro's public statement could trigger new legal developments. As a federal parliamentarian, he enjoys privileged jurisdiction, but is subject to sanctions in cases of incitement to violence, advocacy of crime, or threats to members of republican institutions.

The escalation of hostility from President Jair Bolsonaro's son comes as the Supreme Federal Court moves forward with cases involving attempted coups and crimes against democracy. Watch:
