The spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza warned of what he described as a"humanitarian tsunami" if Israel invaded Gaza City.
Adnan Abu Hasna said in an interview broadcast by Sky News Arabia,"We will be facing a humanitarian tsunami in the event of any Israeli invasion of Gaza," adding that "there is no place for the people of Gaza to flee to... and we warn of a catastrophe."
He pointed out that "UNRWA is the only entity capable of meeting the needs of the people of the Gaza Strip."
He also stressed that "famine has taken hold of most areas of the Gaza Strip and is most severe in Gaza City," considering that "Israel is in a state of denial about the famine and civilian deaths."
Abu Hasna pointed out that "some food aid spoiled after a long wait at the crossings," adding,"We have enough aid waiting at the crossings to last the Strip for three months."
The Israeli military is preparing to seize control of Gaza City, the largest urban center in the Strip, despite international calls to reconsider the decision due to concerns that the operation could lead to significant human losses.
