While US President Donald Trump is boasting at the NATO summit about the end of the war between Israel and Iran - which he attributes to Iran's intervention - he is also addressing other fronts on the international scene. Among them is the war in Ukraine, with whose leader Volodymyr Zelensky the US president has met.

The two leaders held a meeting on Wednesday, about which they issued contradictory statements. The Ukrainian president praised the meeting, which he described as long and substantive, and claimed to have discussed ways to achieve a ceasefire in the Russian war in Ukraine, while Trump denied having raised the issue.

Zelensky hoped to pressure Trump at the 50-minute meeting in The Hague to invest in Ukraine's defense effort against Russia."We've covered all the really important topics. I thank Mr. President, I thank the United States," X wrote, according to the Reuters news agency.

We talked about how to achieve a ceasefire and real peace. We talked about how to protect our people, the Ukrainian president added. However, the US leader denied this.

During Trump's post-summit press conference, when questioned by a Ukrainian journalist, the US president opened up about making some Patriot missiles available to kyiv.

Let's see if we can do it, just like we did with Israel, the American president said, before wishing the journalist good luck, explaining that her husband is at the front in Ukraine while she lives with her children in Warsaw.

Trump has also announced that he plans to speak soon with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.
