The death toll from the attacks has reached 27. floods which affected the Texas of the United States.

Among the victims, there are nine children, while the search for the missing continues. Of these, at least 23-25 people come from the camp, mainly young girls.

According to authorities, the river level rose sharply in a very short period of time near the camp, surprising those responsible.

The severe storms that erupted in the early hours of Friday dropped up to 30 centimeters of rain, causing widespread destruction.

Trump intervention

The President of the United States, Donald Trump reported via a post on Truth Social that the federal government is working with local authorities to address the disaster.

"Melania and I are praying for all the families affected by this horrific tragedy. Our brave first responders are already on the scene doing what they know best," he wrote.

The weather service issued a warning of dangerous flooding in Kerr County, urging residents to avoid all travel and those living near the Guadalupe River to move to areas at higher elevation.

This year's incident evokes memories of a similarly devastating flood in 1987, on the same river, when a bus and van carrying teenagers from a camp were swept away by the waters, killing 10 young people.
