The eldest son of US President Donald Trump Jr. said on Sunday that his father could stop dealing with the war in Ukraine. He made the remarks at a forum in Doha, Qatar, while speaking out against the continuation of further fighting. He described Ukraine as a corrupt country from which the rich have fled and that the"peasant class" is fighting against Russia, according to him. The Guardian newspaper and Sky News television pointed out this.

Trump Jr. believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prolonging the war because he knows that if it ends, he would never win the election. He also criticized the EU's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas. According to him, European sanctions are not working because they only increase the price of oil, the sale of which Russia can finance the war, and Europe is just waiting for Russia to go bankrupt."That's not the plan," he emphasized.

Asked if it was possible that his father, who ran for office on a promise to broker peace in Ukraine, would stop dealing with the issue, Trump Jr. said he might. He admitted that his father is one of the least predictable people in politics. He also promised that the United States would no longer be an"idiot with a checkbook." According to Trump, 50 percent of the supercars in Monaco had Ukrainian license plates.

"One of the most amazing things I witnessed in Monaco over the summer, when I was driving with my friend Bettina, was that on a typical day, half of the supercars, Bugatti, Ferrari, all had Ukrainian license plates. Are we supposed to assume they earned that in Ukraine?" he said.

"The rich ran away, they let people they considered peasants fight these wars, and they had no reason to stop it, because as long as the money train was coming to them, and they were stealing it, and no one was checking anything, the leaders, the ones who make the decisions, had no reason to ever make peace. No different from Putin - the sons of the oligarchs didn't fight there, they sent someone from Siberia there, and he used the war to build his manufacturing base," said Trump's son.

"It's clear that the sanctions we imposed didn't help at all, all they did was raise the price of oil, which essentially allowed him to pay for the war with the price difference and build up his production base. No one had any reason to come to the negotiating table. Zelensky knew he would never win another election and they kept stealing. Putin was building up his production base and all we were left with were millions of young, very young boys dying for nothing," added Donald Trump Jr.

The Guardian notes that Trump Jr. holds no official position in the US government. However, he is a key figure in the informal MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement. According to the newspaper, his claims reflect the antipathy of some members of Trump's team towards the Ukrainian government and come at a time when US negotiators are proposing that Kiev give up part of its territory.
