Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade arrested the bus driver M.T. (61) due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the crime of"serious crimes against the safety of public transport", according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia.
Today in Zemun, the suspect, driving a bus knocked down a pedestrian in 2009, after which he crossed into the lane of the opposite direction where he hit stopped vehicles, and then a residential building where the bus stopped.
In this traffic accident, a 16-year-old pedestrian died on the spot, while two people from the vehicle hit by the bus were injured, as well as one from the bus.
According to the order of the prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, the suspect was detained for up to 48 hours and, with a criminal report, he will be taken to the competent prosecutor's office.
