Washington. The United States will impose a tariff of about 100 percent on imported semiconductors, President Donald Trump said Wednesday.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the new tariff will apply to"all chips and semiconductors coming into the United States," but will not apply to companies that have committed to manufacturing in the country.
“So, a 100 percent tariff on all chips and semiconductors coming into the United States. But if you've committed to manufacturing (in the United States), or if you're in the process of manufacturing (in the United States), as many are, there's no tariff,” Trump said.
