Zelensky and Trump had a new phone conversation. What was the focus of the conversation between the two

Friday, July 4

The announcement about the phone call was made by the Ukrainian leader on the X platform. According to him, the two agreed to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

According to two sources cited by Axios, the discussion between the two presidents lasted approximately 40 minutes.

"Today we discussed [about] Russian airstrikes and, more generally, the situation on the front lines. President Trump is very well informed," Zelensky said after the call.

"We discussed air defense options and agreed to work on increasing airspace protection. We agreed on a meeting between our teams," the leader from Kiev also said.

The phone call between the two comes a day after Trump spoke to Putin again on the phone. Following the conversation, the White House leader declared himself “very disappointed.” After the Trump-Putin call, the Kremlin said Putin reaffirmed that “Russia will continue to pursue its objectives” in its war against Ukraine, despite U.S. calls for a ceasefire.

The phone conversation between Trump and Zelensky takes place a few days after the Pentagon suspended arms deliveries to Ukraine, citing its own ammunition stocks being reduced.
