While the West is trying to finally end Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, a disturbing incident occurs on NATO soil – and Russia is behind it!

As the Polish Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday, the drone that crashed deep in Poland was, as feared, a Russian aircraft. Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said:"Russia is once again provoking NATO states." All NATO allies have been informed of the incident, Kosiniak-Kamysz added.

Early this morning, a massive explosion occurred in a field near the village of Osiny (southeast of Warsaw). Osiny is located about 120 kilometers from the border with Ukraine and 100 kilometers from Belarus. Footage from the local portal LukowTV showed a flash of light followed by a loud bang. Windows shattered in several nearby houses. No one was injured.

Police called by residents found burnt plastic and metal debris at the impact site. The Onet website published images from social media showing a charred engine with a propeller.

The prosecutor in charge of the investigation said the drone left a crater approximately six meters in diameter and 50 centimeters deep. It is unclear whether the explosion occurred in the air or on the ground. The impact site is approximately 120 kilometers from Poland's border with Ukraine and about 100 kilometers from the border with Belarus.

According to Polish media reports, the crashed object is currently suspected to be a Russian Gerbera drone, which is regularly used as a diversionary hull during Russia's airstrikes on Ukraine. There has been no comment from Russia or Poland's NATO partners so far.

The EU and NATO member state Poland is one of the most important political and military supporters of Ukraine, which has been attacked by Russia. It also sees itself as threatened by Russia and is massively rearming.

In November 2022, a rocket hit the eastern Polish village of Przewodow, killing two men. As far as is known, it was a stray Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile.
