A mass protest against US President Donald Trump's visit to Great Britain has begun in central London, RIA Novosti reports.
Protesters gathered at around 2:00 pm local time on Portland Place, near BBC headquarters, and moved towards Parliament Square, where the rally is taking place.
Participants held signs with slogans such as"Down with Trump," "No to racism," "No to Trump," "Stop Trump," and "Down with Trump's nukes," as well as satirical images of the US president. Some banners reference his stance on the Gaza conflict and references to his ties to financier Jeffrey Epstein. Drummers add to the atmosphere of the march.
Organizers from the Stop Trump coalition said they disagreed with the American leader's reception. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is selling out the UK for a tech deal that opens the country to corporate incursion while doing nothing to address the problems, they noted.
Trump himself was in Windsor at the time and did not see the march, but British media noted that he was actively monitoring comments made about him and was likely aware of the event.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump began an official visit to the UK on Wednesday, September 17.
On September 15, the Mirror newspaper wrote that activists from the organization Everyone Hates Elon placed a huge photo of the US President with Epstein near Windsor Castle in order to spoil the American leader’s visit.
