Following his talks with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Bakary Yaou Sangaré called for terrorism to be eradicated at its source, emphasizing that the violence affects segments of the population, including vulnerable or marginalized youth. The Nigerien Foreign Minister stressed the urgent need to act against a scourge that is causing lasting destabilization in Sahelian societies and jeopardizing the future of their young people.
He also thanked Morocco for organizing an international conference dedicated to African victims of terrorism, calling on the international community to help and support this category of innocent and unarmed civilians. Bakary Yaou Sangaré also denounced, without naming them, certain foreign television channels that paint a bleak picture of the situation in our countries and, according to him, present a biased view of the realities in the Sahel. Referring to his discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that they focused on ways to strengthen Moroccan-Nigerien cooperation in various fields.
On this occasion, the two officials signed an agreement intended to allow Niger to benefit from Moroccan expertise with a view to creating, in Niamey, the Institute of Diplomatic and Strategic Relations — a project destined to become a regional center for training and analysis.
Bakary Yaou Sangaré finally wanted to congratulate Morocco after the adoption of UN Security Council resolution 2797, which recognized the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty as the only basis for resolving the regional dispute created by the Algerian regime.
