Dragoș Anastasiu: We have many state-owned companies without financial figures submitted to ANAF. The fines started flowing yesterday

Tuesday, July 22

"We have a few companies that are very profitable and a lot of companies that we don't have financial figures for at the moment, they either have a small profit or are at a loss. The companies were obliged to submit financial data to both the ANAF Trade Register, they will be seen at the Trade Register, and to Amepip. Starting yesterday, the fines started flowing, so far Amepip has not fined these companies and this must happen because if we don't have discipline, the job won't get done," said Anastasiu.

According to him, there are 1,326 public enterprises in Romania, of which 1,182 are at local level, structured in joint-stock companies, autonomous regies and SRLs, and 144 at central level. Of these, 315 companies represent 96% of the turnover and total 173,000 of the 256,000 employees in public enterprises.

"So we are not changing anything that was thought to be mandatory in the area of transparency, in the area of professionalization, in the area of depoliticization and so on, but we are strengthening these things and I am confident that our measures will be accepted by both our government, of course, and the European Commission. In the last 10 days, we have taken steps in terms of collecting all the data and making it transparent. We have 1326 public enterprises in the sights of AMEPIP. Here are enterprises that are either 100% state-owned or the state is in the majority," he explained.

266 companies with losses of approximately 2.5 billion lei,

Anastasiu also specified that the total revenues of these companies amount to 127 billion lei, and the real profit, after deducting subsidies of 14 billion, is close to one billion lei. He drew attention to the 266 companies with losses of approximately 2.5 billion lei, of which 7 important companies, such as CFR SA or Metrorex SA, account for 2 billion lei of these losses.

The situation of losses. At the national level, 266 enterprises generate losses of 2.5 billion lei, of which seven companies generate losses of 2 billion lei after receiving subsidies. Railways CFR-SA, power plants Craiova-SA, Unifarm-SA, railway transport Marfa-CFR-Marfa-SA, municipal company Termoenergetica-SA, Metrorex-SA, energy complex Valea Jiului-SA. Of course we can go into each company separately, but you will be able to see these things starting tomorrow on the AMEPIP website,"he specified.

A critical aspect reported is the lack of transparency and financial data from approximately 550 local companies, which either did not report revenues or did not submit the required data. To remedy this situation, Amepip has started to apply sanctions to companies that do not comply with legal obligations.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that without applying disciplines and respecting transparency requirements, progress cannot be made in the reform of state-owned companies, and these measures will be supported by both the government and the European Commission.
